The Dynamic Relationship between Stress & The Bowen Technique

The Dynamic Relationship between Stress & The Bowen Technique

What is the relationship that the Bowen Technique can have with Stress and how can it help?

To many times a week when treating people with the Bowen Technique do I discover that most of the conditions or symptoms they are presenting with are directly related to the amount of stress in their life and their relationship to that stress, meaning how they are feeling towards their stress and what efforts thy are making to find relief.

Learning to manage stress in our everyday life can make a massive difference to our Health and well being , attitude, mood, and lifestyle.

Why? because Stress can have many adverse effects on our health, including a weakening of the immune system, collapsed energy levels, poor digestion hence leading to many common conditions we see in people today.

I have found  the Bowen Technique  to be extremely supportive during these times for people as one of the first things that the Bowen technique works to do before real healing, repair and recovery can truly take place is to bring the person out of the fight and flight mode they are currently living in, to a place within that is much more  aligned with Rest, Being , Sleep and Relaxation, this state is our natural state.

The Bowen Technique directly addresses and affects the Autonomic Nervous system which is responsible for these fight and flight Vs restfullness, calm and peaceful responses within us.

The Relationship between Stress & The Bowen Technique

There is a time for screaming and running hell for leather in an emergency and there is a time for just simply Being and feeling relaxed!!.

Unfortuantely and quite a worrying observation is that  more and more people in society are living most of the time in this fight and flight response unable to make the conscious choice to come from a different place within, it has simply become a mechanical and unconscious way to exist.

Innevitabley piling more and more stress upon more stress, it all becomes a bit of a matrix leaving one in a complete state of confusion and overwhelm unable to know what do.

So what do about all this?

In my experience The Bowen Technique can help tremendously with Stress if the person is ready for change , meaning that they have really had enough and are open to face the source/s of their suffering. Sometimes just bringing  Awareness to habitual patterns, core beliefs and old ways of thinking can bring healing and sometimes it requires a bit more action.

This article contains several easy tips to help you control and reduce the amount of stress in your life.

Saying “no” more often will actually reduce the stress caused by giving in to things you really didn’t want to be obligated to and keep you from having to do them! When you are already pressed for time throughout your day, so saying “no” to offers people make that you are not actually interested in will give you more control and definitely less stress!

A good tip that can help you get your stress down is to start making sure you have enough time to get to places. There’s nothing more stressful than arriving late to work or to an important meeting. Making sure you get to places early or on time can help you keep your stress down.

If you find your muscles are tense from stress, an excellent choice for unwinding would be The Bowen Technique. People often carry stress in their bodies in the form of tense muscles. Bowen will help relax your muscles. This will make you feel more at ease overall, and that reduces stress.

One important tip to remember in stress reduction is to know your objectives. When you have a clear idea of your objective, you know exactly what kind of results you want to obtain. Knowing this will help you to act accordingly, in order to achieve those results and avoid being stressed out by unexpected results.

A great tip that can help to you keep your stress levels down is to take a hot bath with, candles and something that smells wonderful, certain aroma’s and fragrances can bring about certain reactions and responses, so go to your local healthfood shop and have a sniff through some essential oils.

Take the time to review your current stress-relief strategies to see if there might be a more effective way to deal with stress. Think about logging your stress and what causes it over a few weeks. Take a careful look at your journal to understand what you did when a stressful event came about, and if that response was a healthy one. If you aren’t handling stress well, you can learn new coping skills that will improve your overall stress level.

If you are feeling stressed, it’s time to challenge yourself. By setting yourself up for challenges and meeting those challenges, you will boost your self esteem. When your self esteem is boosted it makes you feel empowered in more control of your own life. When you have more skills and a higher self esteem, you are less likely to feel stressed, which in turn means a healthier lifestyle.

In order to reduce stress in your life, avoid bottling up your feelings. Instead, say what is on your mind in a caring, gentle and respectful way so that people know how your are feeling.
