1-1 Movement Medicine Sessions

Thank you for visiting this page, I imagine you are here as you are looking to deepen your understanding of yourself through Movement.

After 15 years as an Intuitive Bodyworker, I have learned that all emotional pain lives and is remembered within our bodies, our body has become a representation, a shaping if you will, of all our feelings and experiences. I ask you to consider this possibility too, that many if not most of our physical ailments are a result of trapped or unprocessed emotions from vast life experiences which we may or may not remember in our mind, but still, the body always remembers.

Another word for emotion is energy and when this loses its natural flow and balance within our body we can begin to see all kinds of physical manifestations expressing themselves.

Moving energy through touch can still be effective for a client however what I have seen over and over is that there are more often than not stories running behind the physical pain that is full of emotion/energy and so with a safe space, compassionate inquiry, helpful facilitation and the right piece of music, we can give that story, that emotion full expression through movement, with all that we can understand and embrace the closer we come to truly thawing ourselves out and begin the process of consciously embodying ourselves, freeing ourselves from old stories and patterns, calling on, shining a light and bringing forth an innate intelligence within that has forever been and forever will, remain unbroken.

What would a 1-1 session look like?

Straight off the back, I’m going to say that people often feel very self-conscious and a bit intimidated by the thought of dancing, it’s very normal and relatable as movement is revealing, so my intention always to the best of my ability is to help you feel safe and relaxed, we would spend a bit of time getting to know each other, and I would ask some specific questions that would give me a sense of where to begin and what to explore with you, there are quite a few practices available to us with movement medicine but the starting point is always to create a coherency with the mind, body and heart so that we can feel completely grounded and present.

Some of the practices we might explore together would be moving our mental identity to each different part of the body which helps us to shift our identity, and expand our identity to move us slowly from disembodiment to embodiment, we may explore our inner world through some free movement, no words and see what the body wants to express, there may be a time where we inquire into Both the Yin(feminine) and Yang (Masculine) energies within us all, both these energies hold their own qualities and information so when we dance with them it can be quite illuminating for us to learn how we embody and express ourselves. The practice of exploring the Elements within, Earth, Air, Fire and water is so useful in understanding who we are from these perspectives for example sometimes we can feel intense emotions like anger and this can feel Firery, or there may be many tears and sadness which is Water, we may need to connect more to Earth to feel more supported, connected and held or we may just need to feel more space within to breathe, expand and know more freedom, this is the Air element. Understanding the positive strengths of the elements and moving with them individually can support us in identifying where we may be out of balance and need to possibly bring more or less of an element into the way we engage with our lives and with others. We work with whatever is there in the moment, whatever your emotional, mental, or physical condition, all is welcome in the space we create together.

Movement medicine brings our mind, heart and body into the present moment.

Who is this session for?

This is for anyone who desires to become free and find peace within, and who has the courage and commitment to let their body move and tell its story so that they can find the gold within and transform all that holds them back.

We all have Trauma to different degrees, something important to know is that it’s not so much the thing/s that happened but what we did with it at the time, where it lives inside of us now, it leaves its mark on the body, mind, heart and this is the journey of movement medicine to take responsibility, discover that in us which is Unbroken, let go of what no longer serves and take some new embodied steps towards self-empowerment, a love of life, vitality and radiant health, its possible for us all.
